Exhibition Statement

With a focus on materiality and Process, my artwork is a result of the exploration of the medium itself.
I believe that artists should not be limited by traditional boundaries but work alongside them whilst incorporating innovative techniques.

With a professional background in theatre, I have an understanding of the potential of light, shadow, texture and scale although ambiguous in themselves, to entice an additional emotional response from both the artist and the viewer. For this series of works I have created a texture and consistency using acrylic paint that has allowed me to transform it into sculptures that invite the viewer to look closer and question the medium itself. My love of historic architecture and artefacts is often present in my work reflecting on the effects that the passing of time may have on the objects or things that we often consider to be precious or beautiful. Working with experimental process allows the form to reveal itself , and the relationship between the artist and the medium becomes apparent to us.

History itself is created by process both natural and man made. We are all affected by process of some sort at all times and we can never be certain of the long or short term effects on our lives.

The ARTIST is Dead ..long live the ARTIST….The ARTIST is Dead..long live the ARTI……
